Please do not close this window. This window will remain open in the background as you take this module.

This 30 minute module is an introduction to project management principals. Although designed for people who are new to project management, the experienced project manager will find it to be an excellent review of project management concepts.

The Introduction to Project Management module focuses on some basic project management definitions, terminology, and standards while introducing the core infrastructure of PMI's project management methodology. The 9 knowledge areas, 42 processes, and 5 project management process groups are discussed. This module also defines the various project organizational types and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of conducting projects in these different organizations. This basic understanding of project management principles provides an overview that is an essential element in establishing a common knowledge basis for the other modules of this course. The module presents a project management methodology derived from the first three chapters of the "Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) Fourth Edition." This is enhanced with content provided by highly experienced project managers.

In addition people new to project management may view an optional section that explains how to obtain PMP or CMAP certification.
